Covid-19 Update

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the hospital is constantly updating measures put in place to safeguard patients, staff and any visitors accordingly. We urge you to continuously check with us for any updates. In line with these updates, the hospital has eased the restrictions on visiting hours by lifting the suspension previously placed on visiting hours. Patients can now receive one visitor per day for 30 minutes. Please refer to the visiting hours page for the schedule. The hospital also advises that we now have a Persons Under Investigations (PUI) isolation ward within the premises. The ward will ensure improved patient management regardless of Covid-19 status.

Montagu Covid-19 Relief Trust

Montagu Covid-19 Relief Trust is a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative of Medical Investments Limited (MIL). The initiative was registered as a Trust in April of 2020 for transparency as it operates as non-profit entity whose funding is solely dependent on well-wishers to support its services to the community. The major focus of the Trust is to assist the nation in its response to the Covid-19 pandemic, through increasing the nation’s bed capacity. The Trust has a team of Trustees who were appointed to sit on the board of Trustees specifically for the knowledge and expertise that they offer. The Trustees consist of:

The Trustees are experts in different fields such as Finance, Accountancy and Medicine thereby uniquely contributing to the success of the Trust.

The Center for the Trust which is known as the “Montagu Covid-19 Relief Center” is a unit with a maximum bed capacity of 22 beds and a surge capacity of 36 beds. The bed capacity includes 6 Intensive Care Units, 16 ordinary beds, a theatre, and an onsite pharmacy. The center was offered by Medical Investments Limited to accommodate Covid-19 patients for isolation, management, and treatment. 

As a Covid-19 Relief facility, the services offered at the center will be all inclusive but strictly focused on the pandemic.

These services will include:

  1. Covid-19 Screening of suspected patients.
  2. Testing for the virus using both rapid and PCR tests.
  • Isolation facility for patients confirmed to have the virus.
  1. Total care, management, and isolation of patients with the virus.
  2. Admission of patients with Covid-19.

The center is still in the process of being set up and updates on the progression will be provided as works continue.

BOARD OF TRUSTEES BRIEF PROFILE

 

JAMES PASIPANO MAPOSA

 James has had extensive experience in the mining industry over a 30 year period since joining Anglo American Corporation in 1986.

Has served on the boards of Zimbabwe Alloys, Bindura Nickel Corporation, AMZIM Gold and National Foods. Has served on the Chamber of Mines for over 20 years and elected as Chamber of Mines President for two terms from 2000 to 2002. James has been Chairman of Standard Chartered Bank and was Chairman of MIPF from June 2007 to March 2013 .

James was Managing Director for Anglo American Corporation Services from 2003 to 2006.

He is the current chairman of Unki Mines Limited, Southridge Ltd and AMZIM boards. He also chairs the Anglo American Pension Funds – AAAC and AMZIM Pension Funds. He currently serves on the Hippo Valley Board, Debshan Ranches and Medical Investment Limited (Avenues Clinic).

He is an Honours Graduate of the University of Ken at Canterbury in Industrial Relations, Government and Politics.

 

GLORIA ZVARAVANHU SUMMARY PROFILE

Gloria Zvaravanhu is the Chief Executive Officer of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Zimbabwe (ICAZ).

A Chartered Accountant by profession, she is a past President of ICAZ and was the second female president in ICAZ’s 100-year history. With 17 years of experience in financial management, thirteen of which at Executive Management level.

Before joining ICAZ, she served as a General Manager at NicozDiamond Insurance Limited, a Finance Executive at First Mutual Life and a Manager at KPMG Chartered Accountants in both audit and Corporate Finance departments.

She is an alumnus of the prestigious US State Department/Fortune 500 Global women mentoring program where she was mentored by one of the top ‘50 Most Powerful Women in Business’ in the United States.

She holds a Bachelor of Accountancy degree from Rhodes University, South Africa and a Master in Business Leadership degree from the University of South Africa. She has also just completed an LLM degree in International Business Law with the University of Cumbria, UK.

She serves as the Chairman of Chengetedzayi Depository Company Board and Chairs several other audit committees in Zimbabwe.

At continental level she serves on the Pan African Federation of Accountants Board where she represents 15 countries in Southern Africa. She also serves on the Africa Integrated Reporting Council.

At International Level, she was recently appointed to serve on a business committee of the International Federation of Accountants with effect from January 2020.

Gloria has won several business accolades in Zimbabwe that include Female Manager of the year (2013), Corporate Governance Professional of the year (2017), Young Professional leader of the year (2018).

Victor Robinson Gapare

Victor is the Chief Executive Officer of GAT Investments (Private) Limited which owns and operates Bilboes Holdings (Private) Limited, a gold mining and exploration company with operations in Matabeleland North and Pan African Mining (Private) Limited which owns and operates Ayrshire and Muriel Gold Mines. The Bilboes and Pan African Mining Group produce around 660kg of gold per year. Bilboes recently completed a Definitive Feasibility Study for a bigger operation at its Matabeleland properties.

Victor is a former President of the Chamber of Mines of Zimbabwe.

Victor worked for Anglo American Corporation for 16 years and rose to the position of Operations Director before completing a management buyout of the Anglo American gold mines in Zimbabwe which are housed under Bilboes Holdings (Private) Limited in 2003.

Victor holds a Bachelor of Business Studies degree from the University of Zimbabwe and a Master’s Degree in Business Leadership from the University of South Africa. He is a Director of African Century Limited, a Zimbabwean leasing company, Intrachem (Private) Limited, a manufacturer and supplier of mining explosives and chemicals in Zimbabwe, PowerSpeed Electrical Limited, a supplier of electrical and hardware in Zimbabwe as well as R Davis and Company, a civil contracting and mining company.

Fungai Makoni

Fungai Makoni is the Managing Director of Mimosa Mines. He is a Financial and Business management expert. He over 16years experience and has held various  senior management positions. He trained with Deloitte & Touche and possesses a B.Com Accounting, CTA, and Part II FQE. He is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Zimbabwe (ICAZ)
