Mother and Child Unit

This department incorporates a Labor ward, Maternity ward, Neonatal ward, Neonatal Intensive care as well as a Paediatric ward. It is headed by a clinical matron and each of the wards has a sister-in-charge, senior and junior registered midwives and nurses.

Labour Ward

The Labor ward is located on the fourth floor adjacent to the operating theatres. It is deliberately located here for convenience in case of complications or obstetric emergencies. Each of our five delivery suites accommodates one patient at a time so as to ensure privacy and infection control. The ward is manned by highly qualified midwives and all our patients are attended to by consultants. There is also a comfortable lounge for those husbands or partners who might find it necessary to take a break while waiting for baby to arrive! No visitors are allowed in the labor ward except for husbands or partners.

Maternity Ward

This is a ward for postnatal and antenatal patients. Here we have twin bed rooms as well as private rooms which are available per arrangement. Husbands and partners’ visiting times are 7:00am – 7:00pm. Siblings and other visitors are allowed in during regular hospital visiting times This unit forms part of the Maternity ward on the third floor North Wing in order to allow mothers easy access to their babies. It is equipped with incubators, a ventilator and high tech monitoring equipment. The unit is looked after by a team of competent midwives and intensive care nurses. Strictly no visitors allowed, except for parents who are allowed between 7:00am and 7:00pm.

Neonatal Ward and Intensive Care Unit

This unit forms part of the Maternity ward on the third floor North Wing in order to allow mothers easy access to their babies. It is equipped with incubators, a ventilator and high tech monitoring equipment. The unit is looked after by a team of competent midwives and intensive care nurses. Strictly no visitors allowed, except for parents who are allowed between 7:00am and 7:00pm.

Paediatric Ward

This ward is located on the second floor South wing and has 16 beds comprising ten (10) medical and six (6) surgical. Children from birth to 12 years are admitted and, in the interest of the safety of our patients, NO visitors are allowed on the ward. ONLY parents and guardians can visit the sick children. Parents are also strongly encouraged to stay with their children at all times so as to reduce anxiety in the little ones!
